Will Apples new Photo software kill off Photoshop users on a Mac?
Well well well. In only a few weeks Apple has zinged us again with another update. Those crazy cats over in Cupertion California have been quite busy. Not only are the Power Macs and Power Books seeing another upgrade, a new software was released called Aperture. Kind of clever if you ask me. Apparently its a pro photo editing software similar to iPhoto but much cooler. Although I have not seen it myself, from what I’ve read it has some neat features such as:
Apple, as reported from news.com, said that its not intended to replace photoshop, but to compliment it.
hmmmmmmmm. Well I do remember a neat little program that came out called final cut pro that has changed the way a lot of people do video. A fair amount of my friends in the industry have even switched to editing on a MAC because of the final cut innovations. This is hurting premiere in a big way.
I’ve always thought that if apple ever made a vector drawing program and/or a photo editor, it could be bad news for Adobe. The bad news may be coming sooner than Adobe has thought. All I got to say is that Adobe better get on the ball and only release substantial upgrades, because if they keep up the nickel and dime upgrade game, its going to continue to piss people off. The creative industry has a TON of Mac users. I’m pretty sure they have a loyalty to Mr. Jobs and his gang of innovators. So dropping photoshop for a Mr. Jobs new toy wouldn’t be that big of a switch. Especially if Apple plays their cards right by making their software compatible with .psd files.
